REVELATION - Behold, I am Coming Soon
Studies in the Book of Revelation
BOOK 7 - YES, I AM COMING SOON! (REVELATION 19:11 - 22-21)
PART 7.5 - THE NEW WOLRD OF GOD (REVELATION 21:1-8)

6. It is Done! (Revelation 21:6)

REVELATION 21:6
6 He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.

For God there is no space and time. What he says is already done. The Lord assured John, who could not see anything thereof in his everyday life on earth, that the creation of the new heaven and earth for him, the All Knowing, is already finished. This time-shift is barely comprehensible for us. For example, at the other side of our terrestrial globe is a different day time, i.e. a new day which is dawning there, will begin on our side later. How much more may a time-shift be possible in the new heaven! We dare to state: with God the new creation of the universe has already been finished even though we are living in the midst of the birth pangs of the last time! A thousand years are with the Lord as one day (2 Peter 3:8).

In the prophecy of the Book of Revelation several times the Greek tense of the completed perfect is used in case of events which will happen not before the far future (Daniel 12:7; Revelation 11:15; 12:10; 16:17 and other verses). With God His plan has already been realized! He testifies it by using the perfect tense, as His promises will be fulfilled inevitably. His truth is unshakable. We are to learn to believe in the revealed Word and His promises in advance, to thank in advance for their fulfillment and to glory in advance in the victory of Christ as an already accomplished fact!

The Book of Revelation is not a rigid scheme so as to analyze it logically, in fact, the visions encourage us to believe in His Word, to overcome the fear of future, and to hope secure of victory for the fulfillment of the promises of God! “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27).

PRAYER: Our Father in heaven, we give thanks to You and worship You because Your words are full of power, wisdom and effectuality. Everything You say is certainly realized and Your new creation appears in the midst of the termination of the old one. You granted us and those who love Your Son a portion in the new world through the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in their hearts even if their bodies died. Christ in us is the hope of glory. Amen.

QUESTIONS:

  1. What do the original words of the Lord signify and imply?
  2. What of the new creation was realized in our time today?
