REVELATION - Behold, I am Coming Soon
Studies in the Book of Revelation
BOOK 6 - BABYLON THE HARLOT AND THE WORSHIP OF GOD(REVELATION 17:1 - 19:10)
PART 6.1 - THE JUDGMENT OF GOD UPON THE HARLOT BABYLON (REVELATION 17:1 - 18:24)

5. The End of the Harlot of Babylon (Revelation 17:15-18)

Death of the Great Harlot of Babylon (v 16): The Harlot of Babylon's rule has, until now, only influenced one-third of the earth's population. Two-thirds of mankind are not Christians. In the event the ten leaders in confederacy with the Antichrist come from non-Christian countries they would not be subjected to any papal or patriarchal influence. Non-Christian countries largely reject church institutions, except when they need sacrificial offerings and skilled workers to help keep their under-developed and hungry society above water. The indescribably great wealth of the churches is a thorn in their eyes. As once with Mohammed, they, too, hope to alleviate the problems of their excess population out of the superabundance gained from church property. The grumbling of non-Christian and communist nations against the ascendancy of the churches continues, and could, under the rule of the Antichrist, brew up into an explosion.

The angel of judgment revealed to John that, in addition to the ten horns, the beast from the bottomless pit, who the whore of Babylon had herself begotten and used for propaganda purposes, would be hated by the woman in crimson dress (Revelation 17:16). The alliance of the ten kings will convince the son of Satan that the cunning harlot strives to have world control for herself and no one else, and that she has become even more powerful than he himself. Therefore, the beast will distance himself from his rider, throw her off, and declare her to be fair game for anyone. She who had been courted by many suitors will suddenly be abandoned from all sides and left standing alone.

Independent of whoever or whatever the rider on the scarlet red animal may represent, whether secularized or business- minded and enterprising orthodox Judaism, one thing stands sure: Whoever steers and utilizes the nations by means of money, intellect, lies and lobbies will be cast down as an arrogant rider and abandoned to be plundered. Wherever either pious or secular Jews are pre-eminently operating for their rulers, bosses and kings as money- makers and financial prodigies, the hatred of the lords and rulers dependent on them will one day rise up, to renounce and curse them.

The book of Revelation reveals to us that the ten allied princes and the beast from the abyss will together plunder the woman. The might and the influence of this adulteress will have become so great that none of the lords alone would dare to either secretly or openly attack her. Together they will rush upon the lonely harlot, who previously had taken advantage of them, to rob her, expose her shamelessness, and finally, kill her. These princes will no longer be lord over their own lives. The Devil and all his demons will have driven them to the battle feast of the mother of all abominations.

In the event the ten princes are animists, then they will literally eat up the liver, heart and spleen of the harlot, so that her cunning, wisdom and might pass to them (Micah 3:2-3; 2 Kings 9:33-37).

Finally, they will burn the remains of the corpse, so that not even the bones of the great deceiver are left over. There will be no burial. Any thoughts of the harlot will be completely obliterated.

The harlot had abandoned God and opened herself to evil. She loved no one, and no one loved her. In the end her ice-cold machinations came back as God's judgment upon her.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Your Son Jesus Christ did not approach the leaders, politicians, and chief religious officers of His nation, nor did He flatter them, or even ask for money to be collected before or after his healings, but He preferred to live contentedly. The leaders hated and crucified Him, but He rose from the dead, and Your Holy Spirit gives everlasting life to those who humbly believe in Him among every nation and language and tribe and people. Amen.

QUESTION:

  1. Why will the leaders of nations together kill Babylon, their adulteress?
