REVELATION - Behold, I am Coming Soon
Studies in the Book of Revelation
BOOK 5 - ANTI-CHRIST AND THE LAMB OF GOD (REVELATION 13:1 - 16:21)
PART 5.5 - LAST WARNING ABOUT THE WRATH OF GOD (REVELATION 14:6-20)

1. The Proclamation of the Victory of God and of His Judgment (Revelation 14:6-7)

REVELATION 14:6-7
6 I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having an eternal Good News to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people. 7 He said with a loud voice, “Fear the Lord, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!”

The Great Patience of the Almighty: When the first four of the seven commissioned angels blow their judgment trumpets (Revelation 8:2.6-8.10.12; 9:1.12-13; 10:1.7; 11:14-15), hail and fire fell unto the earth (8:7), a volcanic mountain was cast into the sea (8:8-9), the falling star Wormwood (Chernobyl) poisoned the third part of the springs of water and rivers (8:10-11) and sun and moon lost a third of their luminosity (8:12). When the fifth angel blow the first woe, then the abysm of hell opened so that demons like smoke poured out and harmed everybody who had not the protective seal of God on his forehead (9:1-12). The sixth angel brought an army of two-hundred million men across the river Euphrates which killed one third of mankind (9:13-21). Before the seventh angel blow the trumpet, the two witnesses of Christ called the people of Israel and the hardened mankind to repentance and punished the impenitent with a disastrous drought for three and a half year until anti-Christ appeared and killed them. However, the Lord called both of them to himself into heaven (11:1-14). At the end of the second woe the seventh angel blow the trumpet proclaiming the victory of God and his Christ and inducing the last judgment (11:15-19). One of the first events of the seventh trumpet was the raging of anti-Christ and his false prophet who for three and a half year tried to kill everybody who did not worship the image of the son of the dragon (13:1-18). Afterwards the 144,000 martyrs from Israel were lead by Jesus into the throne room of God (14:1-5).

But even after all these more and more intensifying punishing judgments the patience of God and his Lamb has not yet come to an end. Even though the voice of the blood of innumerable martyrs cried to heaven, the Almighty gave a last chance for repentance to the obsessed mankind and in particular to Israel (Romans 2:1-5). He urgently warned them once again against the inescapable judgment which he showed them by seven further angels.

The patience of God is greater then we may think of! His love transcends our understanding of judgment and justice! We should worship HIM because of his patience.

The Gospel in the Last Minute: John saw an angel flying at the zenith of heaven where he could not be fired at by even the strongest rockets of anti-Christ. This angel had to proclaim an eternal gospel. The term “gospel” is a Roman term in the Greek language and denotes a special message proceeding from the house of Caesar or the message that a son was borne to the imperator or that a legion had gained an excellent victory. In such cases heralds wee sent out with trumpets and had to herald “the gospel from the house of Caesar” to all subjects so that they could rejoice and welcome this special message with festivities. Jesus and his apostles gave this important term a Christian meaning. All men are supposed to rejoice that God has sent to this world his only begotten son, who defeated Satan and conquered sin and death on the cross. His resurrection from death and ascension are the culmination of the gospel of God.

Unfortunately, up to now only a third of mankind has heard, accepted, and believed in the gospel, and rejoiced, while the majority turned away from this message indifferently and reject and fight against it more and more. Anti-Christ and his cunning prophet are the tip of this rebellion of men against God and his son (Psalm 2:1-12). Men do not want to realize that the gospel is an eternally valid truth and the only way to God. Therefore the merciful judge is sending them an angel once more before the judgment who is to show them the definite victory of the Lamb of God and imprint it in their hearts so that they will not be condemned.

This last evangelization of God is not only directed at the eleven tribes of Israel (without Dan), but at all men including the hardened Muslims who are all sitting on the ground and think that they hold and rule the world. All nations, tongues and peoples are to hear the last invitation of God and the warning against the upcoming judgment, everybody in his own dialect. Presumably in the period of anti-Christ evangelists, missionaries and tentmakers cannot evangelize publicly or in a hidden manner. However, radio, television and internet go even in every nook and cranny of a city, jungle, desert, and even of the Antarctic. On ships and airplanes, in busses as well as in cars the gospel can be heard – provided that the hearer wants to listen to it!

The Good Message Even to Hardened People: The angel is evangelizing the people who are possessed by anti-Christ neither with a report on the life of Christ nor with the message of justification by grace. Furthermore, he does not speak of the Holy Spirit and his fruits, as the worshippers of the son of the dragon are not tuned in to that wavelength. They are not able to hear, understand and accept the Christian creed. The son of the wicked has made them immune against it. Not even the revelation of the Ten Commandments reaches these collectively bound ones. They only understand the fear of God, because the demons believe also that there is one God, and tremble (James 2:19). Therefore the angel appeals to the hardened so as to fear God, to honor him, and to worship him so that they may be freed from worshiping the dragon and his son.

The spirits from the Abyss are unholy, disgustful and wicked. We must not wonder in the period of anti-Christ, if waterfalls of uncleanness lash down upon us. If nowadays one stumbles accidentally upon a TV channel with pornographic programs, finds himself appalled by the extent of depravity of some actors and their managers. The programs are sometimes so disgustful and the texts and songs so godless and perverse that one may think of Sodom and Gomorrah or of the wording of St Paul about the godlessness of the pagans (Romans 1:18-32). Under the pretext of an unconditioned freedom of opinion millions of people will be swamped by filth of words and pictures. Christ warned very earnestly against the results of such actions, “Whoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6; Mark 9:42; Luke 17:2)

In such a case only a shock therapy will help like that which the angel applied. He called out to this adulterous and depraved generation: Fear God with trembling, cease to worship your false gods and honor solely the creator and judge of the world. His judgment will surely come, whether you want or not, whether you know or not: the hour of judgment is certainly coming for you. Worship him who created the visible hosts of stars and the invisible spiritual heavens and also our small terrestrial globe. Understand that nothing exists without the creator. You are not living on this earth by chance. Your creator cares for you and provides you with water and bread, health and family, friends and a job. What would you do if he allowed that all water would be poisoned by men or a change of climate would cause that life is not possible any longer? Worship the true God and his Lamb, as this is the only way of salvation.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we magnify and thank You because You sent a new angel to our corrupt world, after the obstacles that had followed the seven trumpets, to preach all the unbelievers with Your gospel that they might repent and return in fear and trembling and accept the salvation of Your Son before the pouring out of the last judgments. Help us too to be strong and to offer the redemption of Your grace to our friends and relatives, and even to our enemies, that they may become sanctified and renewed as we are. Amen.
