3. All Creatures Worship the Lamb (Revelation 5:8-14)
They saw and marvelled at the little lamb, but they did not address it by the familiar "you" as the twenty-four elders did. They stood in front of the conqueror of Golgotha in high esteem and confessed with one accord that it is solely worthy and entitled to receive the authority of God. They did not talk about the scroll sealed with seven seals any longer but about the implications of its content: Jesus is solely able and entitled to combine in himself all features and radiances of the glory of God.
Why?
Because he was slaughtered as an innocent lamb!
In Isaiah 53:4-12 the mystery of the victory of Jesus Christ is revealed. Each follower of the Lamb of God should know these verses by heart. The Holy Spirit had revealed the mystery of the substitionary suffering of the Servant of the Lord to Isaiah. Whoever has put his own sicknesses, sorrows, iniquities, transgressions and punishment on the holy Lamb of God, will join in the praise of the myriads of angels with all his heart. His wounds are our salvation, his death is our peace. Paul confessed:
Therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
The myriads of angels wanted to express by their jubilation: the slaughtered Lamb solely was able to restore peace between the creator and His creation. Therefore his enthronement was the only proper consequence when he came home.
PRAYER: We worship You, who were born of the Holy Spirit, because You did not use Your heavenly power to satisfy yourself, but You gave Your life for the salvation of the disobedient and established peace between God and the creation. By Your scourging we are healed.
QUESTION:
- Why did the angels magnify the death of the Lamb of God without mentioning His miracles?
